As I have yet to wear it to the beach/pool yet, I can only comment on the fit. I am 5'5" and a size 8/10 (about 41 inch hip), and the size large fits great. The rear coverage is very similar to bikini underwear, and the front comes up to almost 2" below my navel. It's made of solid (but not too thick) material and the entire front half is lined. Just what I expected from the description.
