Maria's Must Have Bras - Bra Fitting Day Event at Elenor's Boutique

What an exciting day at Elenor's Boutique in Hillsborough, NJ. We had our first Bra Fitting Day Event dedicated to helping women find their correct bra size. We had an awesome turn out. Many women came from near and far to participate in this event.

It truly amazed me to find out how many women are wearing the wrong bra size. About 70% of the women that participated in this event were wearing a bra with a band size 2 - 3 times their actual size. Many of these ladies had the wrong idea about how a bra should fit. We had one lady that came in wearing a 36B and left wearing a 30DD. Her band was too big therefore she wasn't getting the support she needed from her bra. These women were amazed at the difference the correct bra made instantly.

Our staff at Elenor's Boutique worked closely with Freddie, a bra fit expert from Fantasie, Freya, Fauve, Goddess and Elomi to help ensure that every woman that walked out of our boutique went home with the correct information and bra size.

Each lady was given the 411 on how a proper bra should fit, how snug the band should be, how most of the support comes from the band not the straps and how the band should never ride up your back. There is no industry standard on bra sizing. The fact is that a woman should be fitted every year. A woman's body changes due to weight loss/gain, pregnancy and age.

Many of the women wondered why their bras weren't lasting as long as they should.

We also made it a point to speak to those ladies about the proper way to care for a bra. We explained to them that with proper care a bra can last a long time. Washing your bra by hand prevents snagging and underwires popping out. The use of Lingerie wash or a gentle soap such as baby shampoo (Not Woolite - this can clog the pores of the fabric) won't clog the pores of the fabric and extend the life of the garment. Hanging them to dry or laying them flat instead of using the dryer will extend the life of the Lycras, Spandex and elastics.

It was a fun day at Elenor's Boutique. We laughed, chatted and learned. Who would have thought that learning could be so much fun?
