Sports bra designs typically function in two ways, and may feature one or both of these design elements:
- Encapsulation Sports Bras: these types of sports bras cup your breasts, just like a regular bra. They're called 'encapsulation' because they 'encapsulate' your breasts. They're great designs if you hate the 'uni-boob' look, and want something you can also wear out running errands or just hanging out.
- Compression Sports Bras: these types of sport bras are designed to 'squish' your breasts against your chest wall and provide bounce prevention through compression. The old style pullover sports bras were compression style; this is the type of bra that creates the 'uni-boob' look.
Some of our most supportive sports bras feature both encapsulation and compression in their bra design to provide maximum bounce reduction.
